Eivind Nesterud - Fredrik Strid

June 14 - July 13, 2008
Opening: Sat June 14 at 13.00
LANDINGS is pleased to present the work of Eivind Nesterud (NO) and Fredrik Strid (SWE). The show will include the first solo presentations in Norway of the two, where Nesterud will show on landing /1 and Strid on landing /2 of the projectspace.

On /1 Eivind Nesterud will present a series of collages based on found online footage. The collages come about as a result of Nesterud’s own “digital library”, where images and text have been dragged/pulled to his desktop over a period of time. This library functions as notes of interest as well as a museum/collection on Nesterud’s computer mainly consisting of fashion photography, architecture and art, which together evolves into an aesthetic play of information and form.

Fredrik Strid’s work consists mainly of sculptures strongly connected to light and shadow. His field of interest has evolved around nature, notion of time and descriptions of history. Strid’s work is characterized for being suggestively subtle and often ends up as installations where phenomena around light and shadows correspond with his sculptures.

Eivind Nesterud, born 1978, is educated in Malmö and Oslo. Earlier exhibitions include: #1 Home alone with Are and Marianne, Oslo, Arnstedt & Kullgren, Båstad, PEEP, Malmö and Signal, Malmö.

Fredrik Strid, born 1973, is educated in Malmö, and UCLA, Los Angeles (prof. Mary Kelly) and had the ten month artist assistance scholarship with Mark Dion in New York City in 2006-07. Earlier exhibitions include solo presentation at Gallery 5, Lund, Gallery Mors Mössa, Göteborg and Gallery Wuthering Heights, Malmö.

Landings is a new artist run project space for contemporary art situated in Vestfossen. On two levels of a total of 50m2, Landings will offer artists, curators and writers an independent space for research and discourse.
