Ståle Vold - Viktor Kopp

July 19 - August 10
Opening: July 19 at 15:00
LANDINGS is pleased to present two solo exhibitions by Ståle Vold (NO) and Viktor Kopp (SE). This will be the first presentation of work by Ståle Vold in nearly twenty years, and Kopp’s first solo exhibition in Norway.

On / 1, Ståle Vold shows a selection of new work including a sculptural installation of his collection of books and sketches with drawings that connect the two. A new site-specific intervention consists of broken and complete mirrors with a connective tissue revealed as an ‘all-colours’ Playdough that ends up as the sum of all colours: a cool grey/brown. That same grey/brown is used as the base colour to carefully over-paint two of Vold’s paintings from the mid 1980`s.

Viktor Kopp will on / 2 show a series of new paintings displaying chocolate bars. Kopp is interested in the painting medium itself, dealing with texture, flatness, and illusions. The paintings question the notion of art as a kind of nourishment, and encourage us to think of painting as something filled with lust and desire.

Ståle Vold, born 1951, is educated in Trondheim and Bergen. Past exhibitions include solo presentations at Henie Onstad Art Centre and Galleri Riis in 1984, and Asbæk Gallery, Horsens in 1989.

Viktor Kopp, born 1971, is educated in Helsinki and Malmö. Kopp has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and was nominated for the Carnegie Art Award in 2002. Recent exhibitions include solo presentations at Galleri Magnus Åklundh, Malmö, Arnstedt & Kullgren, Östra Karup, Galleri FlachGeiger, Stockholm and Galerie Rolf Hengesbach, Cologne.
